We will spend the 90 minutes working on both building the fundamentals of the game and team strategy. We will also focus on life skills such as showing up on time, being prepared for the day for this wonderful game in all ways.
Mission
Orange County Volleyball was founded to focus exclusively on introducing young players to this amazing game. Through a series of year-round clinics we focus on proper technique and the fundamentals of volleyball. Our mission is to grow the game through introducing first time players to its important technical skills while keeping the atmosphere fun and energetic so they want to continue their path in the sport we all love.

Emeritus Founder
Charlie Brande
Charlie Brande - Simply put, Charlie is one of the legends of indoor volleyball. Starting with his first club team in 1976, Charlie began a journey that would take him to hundreds of Junior Olympic championships for both boys and girls, numerous CIF titles as a high school coach at both Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar and a very successful college coaching career at UCI. Thousands of his players have gone on to successful college careers, hundreds have been All Americans and many have earned Olympic gold medals. But if you ask Charlie, sitting in a gym and watching a six year old make her first perfect pass or an eight year old boy offer a huge smile as he understands how to set is what brings him the most joy

Bruce Asper
Bruce Asper - In 1987 when Bruce graduated from college and started coaching club volleyball to supplement his meager salary as a commercial real estate runner, he had no idea it was the
beginning of a three decade career coaching youth volleyball. He led the renowned Balboa Bay 14 Blue boys team to repeated gold medals at Junior Olympics throughout the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. For the last five years, he has been running youth clinics for ages 6 to 10 and the Local Beach Camp in the summers. Bruce’s focus on fundamentals, while seeking a balance of fun and connection, is well known throughout Newport Beach.

Gabi Gomes
Gabi Gomes - currently a libero on the UCI women’s team, Gabi has been working youth clinics since her freshman year at CdM High School. Her infectious enthusiasm not only brings young volleyball players to the gym, but keeps them there with a smile on their face. Perpetually a favorite of all the girls and boys, Gabi is welcomed back for her fifth year coaching clinics.
